Assistance To Firefighter’s Grant
The Marinwood Fire Department is happy to announce it received a $29,868 grant from the Federal Government under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The money will be used to purchase and install a vehicle exhaust extraction system. This system completely eliminates diesel exhaust and particulates and is vital to the health and safety of the firefighters who live and work at the Marinwood Fire Department and to the members of the public that visit the firehouse. Firefighter Matt Samson wrote the grant. The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is administered by the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and assists rural, urban and suburban fire departments throughout the United States. These funds are used by the nation's firefighters to increase the effectiveness of firefighting operations, firefighter health and safety programs, new fire apparatus, emergency medical service programs, and fire prevention and safety programs.
