Assistance To Firefighter’s Grant

The Marinwood Fire Department is happy to announce it received a $71,467 grant from the Federal Government under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The money will be used to purchase new self contained breathing apparatus. The new breathing apparatus will comply with the Marin County Fire Chief’s breathing apparatus standard. This grant will allow the Department to replace it’s old and outdated compliment of breathing apparatus and to have the same breathing apparatus as every other department in Marin. For the second year in a row Firefighter Matt Samson wrote the grant. The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is administered by the Department of Homeland Security and assists rural, urban and suburban fire departments throughout the United States. These funds are used by the nation's firefighters to increase the effectiveness of firefighting operations, firefighter health and safety programs, new fire apparatus, emergency medical service programs, and fire prevention and safety programs.
