 [print]
A three-alarm fire struck a condominium complex in Foster City on Sunday, severely damaging two homes and sending two firefighters to a nearby hospital, Foster City fire officials reported.

The fire began at 3:20 p.m. at 808 Ram Lane. Forty firefighters and seven engines from around San Mateo County responded, extinguishing the blaze within 40 minutes, according to battalion chief Jim Comisky.

Two condominiums were severely damaged, and two garages separated from the homes by a breezeway were completely ruined, Comisky said. A third condominium sustained smoke and water damage. Comisky said he couldn't estimate the total monetary damage but said it would surely be a "high loss."

Two firefighters were taken to San Mateo General Hospital with minor burns and were treated and released. One even came back to the scene to continue battling the fire. No one else suffered any injuries, Comisky said.

The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation.
