Swim Safety
  • Always swim in a supervised area with a buddy
  • Don't walk, play or go into storm drains
  • Watch out for the dangerous too's: too cold, too tired, too much sun, too much strenuous activity
  • Don't rely on water wings or floaties for safety, use an approved lifejacket instead
  • Don't overload rafts or boats with too many people
  • Alcohol & drugs do not mix with swimming or boating!
  • If you have a boat, take a boating course to learn about boat safety
  • Never try to save a friend in trouble - Get Help!
  • Never leave your child unsupervised around water, including bathtubs, pools, toilets, oceans, lakes & rivers
  • Empty buckets and leave them upside down
  • Close lids to toilets or close bathroom doors
  • Take all pool covers off before swimming
  • Post 911 information by your phone and around your pool
  • Take a CPR and first aid course in your community
  • Enroll your child in swim lessons

Remember, it only takes a few inches of water for someone to drown. Take precautions to minimize the risk.
